TITLE - Management of Opportunistic Infections in the Treatment of Patients with HIV/AIDS
TARGET AUDIENCE - Target audiences for this program are Specialty Pharmacists, Pharmacists, Clinical Pharmacists, Specialty Pharmacy executives, Pharmacy Directors, Chief Pharmacy Officers, Infectious Disease Pharmacists, Infectious Disease Nurses and Nurses
LEARNING OBJECTIVES - After completing the program, Specialty Pharmacists, Pharmacists, Clinical Pharmacists, Specialty Pharmacy executives, Pharmacy Directors, Chief Pharmacy Officers, Infectious Disease Pharmacists, Infectious Disease Nurses and Nurses, along with other healthcare practitioner participants will be able to:
- List the common Opportunistic Infections (OIs) associated with declining CD4 counts
- Recognize the medications used for both prevention and treatment, as well as necessary medication monitoring for management of OIs in HIV patients
- Describe strategies for management of any side effects associated with particular treatments for OIs
- Discuss barriers to adherence and compliance and strategies to mitigate these risks

Specialty Pharma Education Center (SPEC) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmaceutical education. This program is approved for 1.5 hours (0.15CEUs) of continuing pharmacy education credit. Proof of participation will be posted to your NABP CPE profile within 4 to 6 weeks to participants who have successfully completed the post-test. Participants must participate in the entire presentation and complete the course evaluation to receive continuing pharmacy education credit.
